Elizabeth Hauptman, Democrat for Livingston County District 8 Commissioner
Elizabeth Hauptman, a resident of Livingston County since 2008, alongside her husband Andrew, was drawn to the area's public green spaces, rivers, lakes, and the warm community spirit of Hamburg Township. Since becoming a part of this community, Elizabeth has dedicated herself to fostering connections and offering support to local families.
Committed to promoting responsible growth that preserves the unique character of Livingston County, Elizabeth aims to keep gravel pits and asphalt plants out of her district, maintaining Livingston County as a nature-based community. As your District 8 Commissioner, her top priorities are addressing environmental concerns like flood-related issues affecting property values, pollution in lakes and rivers, PFAS contamination, and conservation efforts to safeguard outdoor traditions and angling heritage. She will advocate for leveraging state and federal funds for road repairs and ensuring equitable high-speed internet access throughout the community.
Elizabeth's dedication extends to protecting clean air and water for Michigan's children and families. She serves as a Clean Water Ambassador for EGLE, focusing on PFAS education and advocacy, and holds the position of Michigan field coordinator for the non-profit, “mom”- partisan organization "Moms Clean Air Force." Over the past three years, she has been an active member of Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin’s environmental board. Elizabeth is earnestly collaborating with a grassroots initiative to clean electric school buses, assisting schools in rural districts across the state. This effort prioritizes our children's health while emphasizing fiscal responsibility and long-term savings for school districts.
Following the birth of her son in 2011, Elizabeth initiated a free Moms and Caregivers group, bringing together a diverse array of mothers, grandparents, babysitters, and nannies for outings across Livingston County. She has volunteered as a basketball coach for the Parks and Recreation Department, contributes to her son’s Parent Teacher Organization, and is active in the non-profit organization Moms Clean Air Force since 2013.
Elizabeth envisions a return to small-town values, emphasizing kindness, courtesy, and community. She believes in a forward-thinking leadership that prioritizes the community's needs and works tirelessly to bring positive change. When elected as your County Commissioner, Elizabeth recognizes that she works FOR YOU, and with you, the residents of District 8. Elizabeth looks forward to engaging with you and hearing about your interests and concerns in Livingston County.
